Tennis Toe: Tennis toe, also known as subungual hematoma, is a condition characterized by bleeding under the toenail, typically caused by repeated pressure or trauma to the toe while playing tennis. The constant forward and backward movement on the court, sudden stops, and pivoting motions can lead to repetitive impact on the toes, resulting in bruising and bleeding beneath the toenail. Tennis toe often causes pain, swelling, and discoloration of the affected toenail.

Treatment of Tennis Toe: Treating tennis toe usually involves relieving pressure and managing pain. Initially, it's important to rest the affected toe and avoid activities that exacerbate symptoms to allow the bruise to heal. If there is significant pain and swelling, applying ice packs to the affected area can help reduce inflammation and alleviate discomfort. In some cases, draining the blood from under the toenail may be necessary to relieve pressure and discomfort. This can be done by a healthcare professional using a sterile needle or cautery tool. It's essential to keep the toe clean and dry to prevent infection. Wearing proper-fitting footwear with adequate toe room and cushioning can help prevent recurrence of tennis toe. If the pain persists or if there are signs of infection, such as redness, warmth, or drainage, it's important to seek medical attention for further evaluation and treatment.
